Judge Manley presiding

*The following took place on Wednesday, March 12

-Richard Bleick, 46, of Ronan appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to two counts of felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

An affidavit states that on July 24, 2012, Bleick was pulled over on Stinger Road after being reported a suspicious vehicle. Bleick, the driver of the car, allegedly lied about his identity. After a vehicle search, a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy located numerous items of drug paraphernalia and some pills which have been sent to the state crime lab for further investigation.

The court has scheduled an omnibus hearing on Wednesday, April 2 at 9 a.m. with a jury trial commencing on Monday, June 2 at 9 a.m.

-Ronnie Boyce appeared in court and admitted to the offense of criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

Court records reflect that on Sept. 22, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a possible attempted suicide in Charlo. Boyce, who is a nurse at St. Luke Hospital in Ronan, was initially “found asleep or unconscious in bed” and “appeared confused and upset” upon being disturbed. As emergency personnel arrived, the responding officers discovered syringes and pharmaceuticals in the sink, including the drug, hydromorphone. The affidavit states that “the medications were packaged for hospital use rather than distribution through a pharmacy.” Further investigation confirmed that the hydromorphone found in the residence matched that from a recent shipment to the hospital.

Sentencing has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 16 at 9 a.m. Judge Manley ordered a pre-sentence investigation.

-Matthew Day, 38, of Polson pleaded not guilty to felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

Day was arrested on Feb. 28 for a misdemeanor, but according to an affidavit, was found in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine during a search at the Lake County Jail.

The court has set an omnibus hearing on Wednesday, April 2 at 9 a.m. with a jury trial commencing on Monday, June 2 at 9 a.m.

-Byron Hawkbear had a five-year suspended sentence revoked for allegedly violating his parole.

Hawkbear’s alleged violations include staying at an unapproved residence, traveling outside of his assigned district without permission, illegally possessing a firearm and giving false identification to law enforcement to avoid arrest.

The court sentenced Hawkbear to five years with one year suspended after noting that he was arraigned earlier in the week in South Dakota for illegal possession of a firearm.

*The following took place on Thursday, March 13

-For his alleged role in a Pablo shooting last December, Luis Denobrega reached a plea agreement and admitted to a felony count of criminal endangerment.

An affidavit states that on Dec. 7, Denobrega purposely fired a shotgun into an occupied Pablo home. The house contained five adults, a small child and a newborn infant at the time of the incident. The structure sustained several bullet holes from what appeared to be buckshot and birdshot shells. Some bullet holes were found in a room where the newborn baby had been shortly beforehand.

Denobrega had initially faced six felony counts of assault with a weapon in addition to the criminal endangerment charge. He will be sentenced on April 10.

-Adrian Long, 32, of Polson, admitted to a felony charge of partner family member assault. Records indicate that it Long has two previous convictions for the same offense.

According to an affidavit filed with the case, in the early morning hours of Feb. 25, law officers responded to a report of a possible domestic disturbance. Long was found at the residence in question and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He admitted that he and his wife “had gotten into an argument over a set of lost keys” but denied that any physical altercation had occurred. When interviewing the alleged victim, however, records reflect that officers observed “her left cheek was swollen and red” and also that she “had several black and blue marks on the right side of her neck, and the top mark appeared to be a clear finger mark.” She told officers that Long had “grabbed her by the neck and squeezed until she nearly lost consciousness.”

Long was ordered to meet with probation and parole officers to initiate a pre-sentence investigation. He will be sentenced on May 1.

-Devon Morris, 18, of Polson, appeared in court and pled not guilty to counts of burglary and theft stemming from last November.

Court documents state that on Nov. 22, two rifles were stolen from a shop in Ronan. The shop owner suspected that his grandson and his friends, including Morris, were involved. A family member of the victim later found the guns under the seat of Morris’ truck.

During an interview with law officers, Morris admitted that he and the victim’s grandson had entered the building and stole the guns “with the intent to sell them.”

Morris will next appear for an omnibus hearing on April 24 with a jury trial commencing on June 9.

-Tadd Michael Wilson, 25, of St. Ignatius appeared in court for arraignment on three counts of felony assault on a peace officer.

Three Lake County deputies went to Wilson’s residence on the evening of Feb. 22 to execute an arrest warrant for Wilson’s failure to appear in court on a separate matter. Wilson resisted arrest and yelled for his father to “get the gun.” At that point, a deputy attempted futilely to dry-tase Wilson. Wilson kicked at the officers, who then used the prongs to tase him. Wilson continued to resist and kick until the officers placed him in the patrol car.

Court records state that on Dec. 18, Wilson was found to be in possession of a black 2013 Jeep Wrangler that had reportedly been stolen off the lot of Ronan Dodge the night before. Although Wilson claimed to own the vehicle, he supposedly “did not appear to know who he had purchased it from.” For those crimes, Wilson was charged with felony theft.

The court has set an omnibus hearing for the assault charges on Thursday, April 24 at 9 a.m. with a jury trial beginning on Monday, June 9 at 9 a.m. A bond hearing has been set for Thursday, March 20 at 9 a.m.

-Michaelanne Goen appeared in court for arraignment on two counts of felony criminal endangerment.

Goen was arrested after her involvement in an auto collision on Highway 93 in which she failed to stop at a stop sign entering the highway and collided with oncoming traffic. Unrestrained in the vehicle, Goen was ejected from the vehicle through the driver door’s window and landed nearby. A 3-year old child and a 4-year old child, both passengers in the vehicle, were also unrestrained and suffered injuries that required hospitalization. Three other passengers in the vehicle were properly restrained and uninjured in the collision.

The court has set an omnibus hearing for Monday, April 24 at 9 a.m. and a jury trial beginning on Monday, June 9 at 9 a.m.
