Senior News - May 8
Dixon
We were treated to our annual Senior Appreciation Lunch prepared and served by the students from Dixon School, plus entertainment of juggling, singing and dancing. They also provided some spring art work to decorate the Center. Thanks to all who helped with this. Some of us don’t have daily contact with youngsters, and this is a treat.
Our local ice cream treats and varied drinks stop is open and ready for whatever you want, from espresso to Italian sodas. (had my first ever I. soda — very refreshing). David Sands has his ice cream station right on the main street in Dixon, just follow the signs. He will make it to suit you. Another local great product is the famous Dixon Melons. Harley Hettick informed me the ground is being readied for planting...can you hardly wait!
Take a trip to Dixon for lunch (noon on Thursdays) or dinner, every Monday at six. The weather tends to be a bit fairer, and the meals are delicious and all you can eat. Take-outs are available also. The menus coming up include:
Thurs. May 8 Brunch for lunch—quiche, oven French toast and bacon; Mon. May 12 Salmon patties, macaroni & cheese; Thurs. May 14 Sloppy Joes, baked beans; Mon. May 19 Beer & Bean Burritos; Thurs. May 21 Pork roast; Thurs. May 29 Swiss Steak; There will be no meal at the center on Memorial Day, May 26

On Saturday, April 26, we had some volunteer help at our Center to help with some work. Dave Murphy and Wade Shipley did some painting in the restrooms while Wade’s son, Gabe, helped me install a new sump pump. Gabe is 12 years old and I couldn’t have asked for better help. I didn’t even have to drag my old body down into the crawl space; Gabe followed my directions and performed all the work. That young man can work for me anytime. Many thanks to all of them!
Lunch is served every day, Monday thru Friday from 11:45 – 12:30. On Thursday, May 8, we will have hot turkey sandwiches w/whipped potatoes. Friday is sloppy joes w/tater tots. Monday is sausage gravy over biscuits. Tuesday we will serve soft shell tacos w/baked beans and on Wednesday, May 14, we will feature cheeseburgers. Of course, all the meals are accompanied with a vegetable and a dessert.
The toe nail clinic will be on the 14th from 10:30 – noon. The vet’s rep will be here on the 14th also from 1:00 – 3:00.
Friday night bingo is gaining in popularity with games beginning at 7:00. Again, our regular staff would surely appreciate it if anyone would be willing to help at the games, be it calling, selling cards or serving refreshments.
Have a good week!

Thanks to the Center for the wonderful retirement party last Wednesday, and to all the people who attended. The Center has supported me 100 percent during all of the years that I have worked here, and I know that they will continue to do the same for Andrea. If you don’t visit your local Center, you are missing out on meeting and knowing a lot of wonderful, caring people.
