Polson’s tennis season is about to become the postseason, and the Pirates’ girls team couldn’t be playing better.

Led by strong No. 1 doubles duet Mollybeth Hendrix and Taylor Rost, the Pirates team whizzed by Whitefish, 6-1, Tuesday for their third straight victory of the week.

Shannon Oakley and Lauren Dupuis took care of their singles adversaries in straight sets as well, and doubles teams of Karly Rochin and Marlee Congdon at No. 2 and Shawna Lenz and Mollie Lemm at No. 3 secured the victory.

The Pirates also earned sweeps of Stevensville and Columbia Falls on Saturday.

On the boys side, Dylan McCrumb, Brady Hislop, Colin Kenney, and the doubles team of Tommy Mercer and Tyler Dupuis all turned in undefeated weeks. Polson took care of business against Whitefish and Columbia Falls, but they were unable to handle Stevensville, falling 4-3.

The defending Class A champions have a mix of senior leadership — see Hislop, McCrumb and Dupuis — and freshman enthusiasm — Kenney and fellow freshmen Tim Russell, Matt Sitter and Cadis Chowning have all contributed — that has made them hard to beat, though inconsistent at times.
