Prep track and field briefs - May 8

Charlo’s boys’ track team won yet another meet last weekend, this time taking the Seeley-Swan Invitational in Missoula by seven points over second-place Troy.

The Vikings were powered by Manuel Ammann’s win in the 3,200 and Kail Pope’s victory in the 300 hurdles.

Tyler Delaney, Dalton Delaney, Michael Delaney, Jacen Petersen, Jesse Long, Trent Dennison and Connor Daugherty all earned points for Charlo as well.

Ronan’s Maidens ended up fifth, thanks in large part to strong jumping from Sydnee Clairmont, second-place finishes from Aspen Jore in the javelin and shot and Alex Dennis’ hurdling efforts.

The Vikings girls were led by Jordan Ludeman’s win in the pole vault, and Jessica Knoll, Carly Hergett, Becca Whitesell and Whitney Malatare all scored points for Arlee’s girls team.

Ronan’s Lucas Gerhardt won the shot put to lead the Chiefs in the meet.

In other track and field news, Polson’s teams competed against some of the state’s top athletes at the Archie Roe Invitational in Kalispell.

The Pirates boys’ team finished sixth behind second-place finishes from Jacob Clairmont in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles and long jump and Tel Motichka in the 800.

Polson’s girls placed 10th, with Tiara Duford, Claudia Hewston, Mariah Corrigan, Kidron Lee and both relays scoring.
