THURSDAY, MAY 22

WHAT: DANGEROUS DRUGS PRESENTATION

WHEN: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE: Third floor, Tribal Health Building (conference room), 5 Fourth Ave. E. in Polson

DETAILS: Partners in Suicide Prevention and Intervention hosts. Polson Police Department Chief Wade Nash shares insight, information and data. Lunch is catered. Open and free to the public.

WHAT: BIRD DAY FESTIVAL

WHEN: 5 to 8 p.m.

WHERE: Joe McDonald Health and Athletic Center at Salish Kootenai College

DETAILS: The Community Bird Day Festival: “Why Birds Matter: The Benefit of Birds to Humans and Nature,” All are welcome to celebrate birds in science, culture and art. Enjoy bird-themed information stations, vendors and crafts, including live birds. Various bird-themed short films will be shown in the Johnny Arlee/Victor Charlo Theater. Refreshments will be provided.

DETAILS: Linderman Elementary’s Pirate Pledges 4 Playground Walk-a-thon. Bring the whole family to the walking path and help us raise funds for new playground equipment.

MONDAY, MAY 26

WHAT: MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES AND PARADE

WHEN: Ceremonies at 10 a.m.; Parade at Noon;

WHERE: Polson, First Citizen’s Bank and Lakeview Cemetery.

DETAILS: Parade starts at noon in downtown preceded by ceremonies at the bank and cemetery. Starting at 10 a.m. After the parade, another ceremony follows at Brockman Park and another at Mountain View Cemetery.

WHAT: MIND MATTERS SERIES

WHERE: North Lake County Public Library in Polson

DETAILS: Film/Discussion on Temple Grandin, a popular movie portraying an aspect of mental illness.  Following the film, Lisa Orr, MSW, LAC, Sunburst Mental Health Service will lead a discussion.  The event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
