Motorcyclist leads cops on high-speed chase

POLSON–Brandon Jeppeson got a bright idea while riding his motorcycle along Highway 93 near Polson Sept. 29. He’d show that highway patrol trooper how fast he could go.

Jeppeson, 30 of Polson, realized a Montana Highway Patrol trooper was pulling him over, began to stop, then accelerated instead, Lake County court records said.

The trooper pursued the motorcycle, which accelerated to speeds of more than 100 mph, court records said.

“During the pursuit, two oncoming vehicles were forced off the road by the motorcycle,” records said. “The pursuit continued  until the driver lost control of the motorcycle and slid into the front of a (Lake County) Sheriff’s patrol car.”

But Jeppeson wasn’t done.

That’s when he attempted to flee on foot, but stopped when he realized he was injured

The trooper arrested Jeppeson and charged him with felony criminal endangerment and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Jeppeson’s arraignment before Judge James A. Manley was continued from Oct. 29 to Nov. 12.

Jeppeson faces a fine of up to $50,000 and/or 10 years in jail.
