A hairy situation

Polson-based Black Mountain Software hosted its second annual facial-hair growing fundraiser in conjunction with the American Cancer Society’s No Shave November campaign. The ‘Movember’ event is designed to raise awareness and money for prostate cancer research. The moustache measuring, beard analyzing, prize giveaways, and donation counting were held Nov. 21 at the BMS offcies in Polson. This year, donations have been collected in moustached piggy banks and online at.Stacy “Griz” Violett won the Best Facial Hair Growth Award. Many other awards were given out (we had 11 participants, and each got a special award), including: Ernest Hemingway Award, Viking Award, Mo’ Cool Award, Thinsulate Award and more. Guest participant Pete “Burly” Bishop won the Chewbacca Award as well as the Most Money Raised Award ($60). Pete doesn’t work at Black Mountain, but knows several of our employees from serving on the Polson Fire Department with them.
Online donations are still being collected through the end of Movember (the month formerly known as November), and we’re confident we will meet last year’s donation amount of $400.
