RONAN

From Linda Schoon

My lap top is messed up again, and I cannot connect with the internet.

However, I still have access to Face Book, so I am not completely out of touch with reality.

One must keep up with what is going on in the world.

We held our spaghetti dinner last Saturday, and we would like to give a great big thanks to all of the local merchants who donated to our silent auction.

We certainly do live in a caring and generous community.

Another big thanks to all who helped to make the dinner a success.

It takes a lot of hard work to get a fund raiser going, and we appreciate all who help. A special thanks to Jim for making such a great sauce for our spaghetti.

It is the time of year when you can change your supplemental Medicare plans. Bailey Insurance (New West) will be here on Nov. 7 and Dec. 4. Appointments start at 1 p.m., and you can call the Center (676-2371) to make an appointment.

You can also call the COA (676-2367) to schedule and appointment and to explore more options with them.

The COA is has a raffle going until December 11th. They are raffling of two chances to win a Samsung Galaxy TAB4, a home made quilt, a Wii Infinity game, and several smaller prizes.

Call them (676-2371) to buy tickets or to answer questions about the prizes.

You may also come to their office or the Senior Center (528 Main St SW) to get your tickets.

Our menu for the rest of the month is: Wed.(22nd) is meatloaf, Fri.(24th) is turkey Alfredo, Mon.(27th) is polish sausage and macaroni and cheese, Wed.(29th) is chinese casserole, and Fri.(31st) is roast beef.

You don’t have to be a senior citizens to join us, and all are welcome to join us.

We serve meals at noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We also serve an evening meal once a month, at 5 pm on the second Thursday of the month.

Have a great week, and enjoy the nice weather and the great fall colors.

Neither will be around for much longer.

POLSON

By Dave Basta

I wonder if clouds ever look down on us and say, “Hey! That one is shaped just like an idiot!”

As we travel our highways we take for granted the lack of litter along them until we pass by a volunteer crew picking it up. Kudos to those people! As you pass by, give them a wave or a thumbs-up to show these un-sung heroes your appreciation.

Conversely, a pox on those who use the roadsides as their personal trash baskets.

Our annual Community Thanksgiving dinner will be held here on Thanksgiving Day from 11:00 – 2:00.

If you would like to volunteer either food or time contact Cathy at 883-4735.

Senior bowling scores:

Frani Basta took both the high scratch game and scratch series with 238 and 569, respectively.

Men’s high scratch game honors went to Larry Alter with a 280, closely followed by Larry Lawin, 255, Bob Elsberry, 254, Ray Theiler, 244, Jesse Barry, 241, Don Young, 221, Jim Funke, 219, and Jack Adamson with 212.

Frani also had women’s high handicap series with 791. Bob Elsberry had the men’s high handicap series with 773.

There will be no bingo on Friday, Oct. 31.

The lunch menu for the coming week is as follows:

If you see someone wearing camouflage, walk right into them so they know it’s working.

Have a great week!
