Unexpected visitor accused of burglary

POLSON – Kasey Allen Pier was probably not thinking about the consequences when he helped himself through the front door of a couple’s house, locked it and proceeded to beat up a man, then left.

The incident, which took place in September, occurred when Pier began punching the unnamed man while a woman standing nearby attempted to restrain him.

The woman, who called police, yelled at Pier to leave and, according to Lake County Court records, he pushed her onto the couch and continued his assault.

Eventually the beaten man was able to subdue Pier, court records said, and Pier fled the scene.

Pier appeared in before Lake County District Court Judge Deborah Kim Christopher to be arraigned for burglary.

In Montana, if a person enters another person’s home, locks the door with the intent to cause harm, he is considered a burglar, a Lake County Sheriffs official said.

Pier’s arraignment was continued to Oct. 30.
