Polson soccer wins over Whitefish

At Whitefish this past Saturday, the U19 Polson FC girls spring soccer team posted a pair of wins over their competition to forge a tie in the points standings at this early juncture of the season. U19 Polson FC (3-1) are currently situated in second place right on the heels of the Billings-based U17 Magic City White. U19 Polson FC plays a pair of games this Saturday, April 25, at the Polson Sports Complex up at the high school, playing the U18 Flathead Rapids Black squad at 9:00am and the U18 Park Purple team at 4:00pm.
In other spring soccer action around the area, the U16 Polson FC girls team were idle this past week and have a pair of games in Missoula on Saturday against both Missoula Strikers teams. The U13 Polson FC girls split their series against the U13 Flathead Rapids this past weekend.
On the Boys side of the soccer pitch, the U19 Polson FC boys scored a goal, but lost both contests this past weekend after netting a win and forging a tie the previous weeks. The U16 Polson FC boys won their two games against the Flathead Force by the score of 5-1 and over the U16 Kootenai Rapids 4-1.
The U14 Polson FC boys blanked both of their opponents this past weekend, 6-0 over Red Lodge Soccer and 9-0 over Hi-Line United.

Striker Stephanie Wilson (Kalispell Flathead – Western AA all-state, 2x all-conf, 2014 co-player of the year, super-state) scored twice for a brace. Fellow teammate Alexa May (Kalispell Flathead – Western AA all-conf) tallied the third goal off an assist from Linnea Madsen (Polson – Northern A 3x all-conf) as Polson blanked the Whitefish-based Flathead Rapids team by the score of 3-0.

Striker Natalie Beaton (Lakeland, ID – 2013 4A All-Inland Empire League), currently attending the University of Montana, scored a hat trick. University of Great Falls bound Sarah Howell (Polson – Northern A 3x all-state, 3x all-conf) contributed bookends to the game when she opened the contest with a goal and closed out the scoring with an assist. Staked with the commanding lead, Polson flipped the script on player deployment, rotating defenders into the offensive positions and offensive oriented players into defensive assignments. Alexa May (Kalispell Flathead – Western AA all-conf) and Ally Staats (Kalispell Glacier – Western AA all-state, 2x all-conf, super-state) tallied the next pair of goals. Zoe Zander (Kalispell Flathead – Western AA all-conf), who ordinarily plays goalkeeper, scored her first goal in a very long time, while regular midfielder Linnea Madsen (Polson – Northern A 3x all-conf) took a turn playing goalkeeper and snared her very first save. Mission Valley Christian Academy’s Julia Maddy rounded out the scoring.
