Ronan qualifies athletes for state

As the high school track season progresses, Class B athletes are not only trying to have the best marks of the meet, but also have the best marks in the state. Athletes from Ronan and Mission can qualify for state two ways. They can take the long way through divisionals, or they can qualify automatically by beating the marks set by officials.
Ronan currently has four athletes who have already qualified for the state meet. Sydnee Clairmont beat the 4’10” standard with a jump of 5’0” to receive at place in the state meet. Aspen Jore has qualified in both the javelin (123’3”) and the shot put (34’9.5”). Lee Camel beat the 15’5” mark in the long jump by a quarter inch to secure her spot. The only boy to qualify from Ronan is Tyler Houle, who pole-vaulted 12 feet, which ties the necessary height to make state.
For the Class C schools, including Charlo, Arlee, and Two Eagle River, athletes will have to compete through district and divisional meets to make it to state. Arlee competed Saturday in Missoula against some new competition including schools from as far away as Twin Bridges and Dutton/Brady. They also competed against Class B schools, including Ronan and Mission.
Alex Adams led the Scarlets with a fifth place finish in the 100-meter dash and a sixth place finish in the long jump, along with helping the relay teams place sixth. Isaac Dejarlais of Arlee placed third in the 100-meter run and the 200-meter run, along with a sixth place finish in the 800-meter run.
The Ronan Maidens were led by Lee Camel, who placed third in both the long jump and the triple jump. Aspen Jore placed fifth in the shot put and fourth in the javelin. Bryce Cullen led the Chiefs with a fourth place finish in the 300-meter hurdles, and a fifth place finish in both the long jump and the 110-meter hurdles.
For Mission, Tyler Spidel was the only athlete to place, but he had an impressive throw in the shot put (43.6) that earned him a second place finish.
Charlo competed on Thursday in Corvallis at the twilight meet instead of the meet on Saturday in Missoula. They competed against much larger schools, including Polson.
That didn’t stop Michael Delaney from leading the boys’ team with a first place finish in the 110 and 300-meter hurdles. Nor did it slow down Cheyenne Nagy, who placed fourth and sixth in the 300 and 100-meter hurdles. Brooklyn Foust added a seventh and fourth finish in the 800-meter run and 1600-meter run.
