Bio. Station director gives final state of lake address
Jack Stanford will give his final state of Flathead Lake address Aug. 18, when the Flathead Lakers have their annual meeting.
Stanford is director of Flathead Lake Biological Station, and will present the annual State of the Lake Report. He is retiring next spring. The program begins at 7 p.m. at the Glacier Camp and Conference Center near Lakeside. A social time prior to the program begins at 6:15 p.m.
Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Native plant expert Andrew Beltz will talk about the value of riparian buffers for water quality. Beltz will speak about his work helping the Flathead Lakers and how a lakeshore property owner can create a native plant riparian buffer. Aaron Clausen, Flathead River steward, will share insights on the Flathead River Steward Program and its projects to restore riparian buffers along the Flathead River.
The Flathead Lakers will present their annual Stewardship Award to Bob Moore and Betty Moore for partnering with the Lakers to create a demonstration lakeshore buffer.
The Flathead Lakers is a nonprofit organization working for clean water, healthy ecosystems and lasting quality of life in the Flathead Watershed.
