GRACE MAY (MARTIN, SAYLER) TANNER

Grace May (Martin, Sayler) Tanner, born Nov. 24, 1928 in Polson, passed away in Whitefish on August 7, 2015 at the age of 86. She was the fourth of eight children of Gaither and May Martin. 

Grace attended first through fifth grades at Evaro. 

Among her schoolmates were several grandchildren of Chief Charlo. She finished her education in Missoula. 

She married Robert Sayler in 1948. They had four children: Mike, Chris, Rick, and Terry Ann. Robert passed away in 1971 in Spokane, Wash. She moved to Columbia Falls in 1971 where she was employed as a police, ambulance, and fire dispatcher. She married Jack Tanner in 1974 and he passed away in 2006 in Polson. 

Grace spent her last years at the Lakeview Village in Polson where she made many good friends. 

Early hobbies included roller skating, bowling, and gardening. 

Later she enjoyed crocheting, bingo, and limited gardening, generously sharing her plants and flower seeds with loved ones. 

Grace had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to join the family get-togethers when her parents and brothers played music. She was loved by all who knew her and will always be remembered as a kind and generous lady.

Grace was preceded in death by her mother and father, sons Mike and Rick Sayler; sisters Judy Kodis and Mary Ann McSloy, and brothers Don, Jim, and Jack Martin. She is survived by her daughter Terry Ann Sayler (Dave Chavez) of Novato, Calif.; son Chris Sayler of Ringrove, Calif.; sister Margaret (Jo) Pullar of Auburn, Wash.; brother Gene Martin of Moiese; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  to send a note of condolence to the family please go to www.buffalohillfh.com.
