MARSHA MCDONALD RUBINO
Marsha McDonald Rubino, age 70, passed away on Thursday, August 13 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center after a long battle with Type I Diabetes and cancer with her loving family and friends at her side. She was born on July 9, 1945 in Spokane, Wash. the daughter of Thomas R. McDonald and Lois Geraldine (Dahl) Cochran.
She attended and graduated from Polson High School with the class of 1963. She was a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.
Following high school, she attended the University of Montana where she met Vince Rubino. They were married in Polson in 1966.
In 1967, Vince was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army, then they began serving on active duty, taking them to Heidelberg, Germany; Seoul, S. Korea as well as several posts across the U.S. including 5+ years at the Presidio in San Francisco, which was Marsha’s favorite post. She enjoyed entertaining and numerous parties and social events that she planned. She and Vince retired from active duty in 1987 from Ft. Monroe, Va.
They eventually came back to Montana where they purchased their home on Flathead Lake and continue to reside there to this day.
She began a manicurist business which developed into a wonderful social business which gave her national contacts and recognition. She was also very active in 4-H, horsemanship and shooting sports.
She loved spending time with her family and friends and cherished those times spent together. She also cherished her two children and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Thomas McDonald, her mother Geri Cochran, infant brother Angus Patrick McDonald and brother Ranald McDonald.
She is survived by her husband Vince of Big Arm; her son Vince Jr. and wife Young Joo Kim of Inchon, Korea; her daughter Gillian (Rubino) Moss and husband Shane of Whitefish; five grandchildren, Devan, Colt, Coy, Eugene and Rowan; her siblings, Gail Graves, Lorrie Meeks, Jackie Rader, Jan Cochran and Malcolm McDonald as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life for Marsha was held on Wednesday, August 19 at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Polson.
Urn burial will be at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Missoula. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
