An update from Envision Polson
Envision Polson was formed to continue the work and efforts that were started as a result of the Polson Heart & Soul Project. The committees listed below align with the community values that were identified by our citizens throughout this process. These committees will help to assure our community continues its efforts of collaboration and inclusion as we move forward. Involvement in the committees and projects is welcome. Here is an update.
ECONOMY & STANDARD OF LIVING COMMITTEE:
Update: Looking at ways to enhance and attract telecommuters to our area. Greg and Susan Gianforte have developed a brochure inviting Montana graduates who have moved to cities for employment to consider returning to Montana if telecommuting may be an option.
BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE:
Update: The Beautification Committee is excited to primp the entrance to Polson at the intersection of Highway 93 and Highway 35. There is a cute boat planted with beautiful flowers to welcome people to our community. Also, the Polson in Bloom contest has kicked off and nomination forms are available at the Chamber office or on the GPCF website (greaterpolsoncommunityfoundation.org). Please have nominations in by July 17.
HEALTH/WELL BEING COMMITTEE
Update: The Health/Well Being Committee is looking for a chair person. If interested, please contact Penny Jarecki at pennymt@centurytel.net.
YOUTH/SCHOOLS
Update: The school system is working on programs that assist students with career planning, starting even in the 6th grade. This gives kids a chance to consider different career paths. Leadership training is another program in development.
LEADERSHIP/COLLABORATION/COMMUNICATION
Update: If you are interested in participating in this committee please contact Pat DeVries at pat@polsoncpas.com.
DOWNTOWN
Update: Downtown Polson is looking great and ready to welcome our local customers, summer visitors and seasonal folks. Volunteers from the Beautification Committee are keeping the plantings in the bulb-outs weeded and trimmed. There are many great events taking place downtown this summer!
YEAR-ROUND RECREATION
Update: The Polson Triathlon is in its 3rd year already and everyone is excited for another fun event to be held Saturday, August 18. This committee recently met with representatives from the Montana Senior Olympics who are considering Polson as the host city for their Olympics in 2017.
