Grizzly bears killed near St. Ignatius

Two Female Yearling Grizzly Bears Lethally Removed
On Tuesday, June 9th, Tribal Wildlife Biologists lethally removed two female yearling grizzly bears from the St. Ignatius area. Stacy Courville, Tribal Wildlife Biologist, reported that these bears were very habituated and were observed multiple times by several people including Tribal Wildlife staff at all hours of the day. They are also implicated in multiple depredations on calves and were observed chasing calves. Tribal Wildlife Biologists observed one of the yearling grizzly bears chase a cow.
The status and whereabouts of the adult female is unknown.
