Exhibitions: “Hometown: The MMAC Permanent Collection Celebrates Missoula” and “Human Condition: The Art of Ben Steele” – June 4-Sept. 12, Paxson and Meloy galleries, UM Performing Arts and Radio/Television Center. “Hometown” brings together images of the Garden City by artists who have called Missoula home. “Human Condition” honors MMAC’s commitment to sharing the history of the Bataan Death March through the artwork of WWII prisoner of war and Montana artist Ben Steele. Summer Course:“Cycle the Rockies: Energy and Climate Change in Montana” – June 10-July 7, across Montana. Students on this course will explore Montana by bicycle while studying the ecological, social and economic issues associated with energy production and use. Summer Backpacking Course: “Wild Rockies Summer Semester” – June 15-Aug. 14, across Montana. Students begin in the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem of south-central Montana, trending steadily north in a series of backcountry trips and town meetings with regional community and conservation leaders. They will examine conservation at a broad regional perspective, a Native American perspective and at the local landscape level, with the goal of finding a comprehensive understanding of these issues. YETI Explorers Camp – 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday, June 15-19. UM DeWit RiteCare Clinic, 634 Eddy Ave. YETI Social Skills Camps are designed for school-age children, grades 2-7, who have social-skill challenges secondary to a diagnosis of autism or related disorders. YETI provides social-skills intervention in a fun and safe environment with a one-to-one ratio of adults to children. Costs $265, or insurance may be billed (prescription required). Camp CHRONICLE (Creating High-Quality Renderings & Original Narratives in a Language-Rich Environment) – 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, June 19-July 3. Designed for children ages 9-11 who experience difficulties with reading or writing such as dyslexia, reading comprehension deficits, difficulty with spelling or grammar, or struggle with planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks when completing a project. Costs $1,306, however, most insurance plans cover about $1,056. Need-based scholarships also are available. UM Summer Music Camp – All day, Sunday- Saturday, June 21-27, Music Building. Students entering seventh grade through 2015 high school graduates will enjoy full concert band, small ensemble and solo performance opportunities.
