Polson soccer teams finish spring season

The Polson soccer teams are finishing up their spring seasons, with tournaments at the end of June. The teams have more games scheduled for this weekend.
GIRLS SOCCER
U16 Polson 2
U14 Bozeman Blitz 2
Polson managed to forge a tie with Bozeman, but it came with a steep price tag. Polson goalkeeper extraordinaire Jenna Evertz sustained a kick to the head that resulted in a concussion during the course of play which sidelined her the remainder of the game as well as the subsequent contest. The timing of her return remains indefinite and dependent upon the extent of the knock to her noggin. Tiara Duford put her state placing track relay speed to good use as she broke away to score both goals off assists from Ashlee Howell.
Helena Arsenal 5, U16 Polson FC 1
The point spread in this contest was likely impacted by concern over the unknown extent of the injury to their valued comrade, but nevertheless the team made strides from their last encounter by managing to score a goal against a very tough squad. Amber Clarke filled in as goalkeeper and had in the neighborhood of eight saves. Ashlee Howell scored the lone Polson goal off an assist from Tiara Duford.
The U16 Polson FC girls’ squad will host a pair of games this Saturday, June 13, at Linderman Field in Polson. Their first opponent will be the Whitefish-based Flathead Rapids at 9 a.m., followed by a 3:30 p.m. rematch against the Helena Arsenal.
U19 Girls were idle.
BOYS SOCCER
Helena Arsenal 2, U14 Polson FC 1
This was a close contest in which Bridger Wenzel scored the lone Polson goal in the second half.
Xavier Stalkfleet guarded the box as goalkeeper.
U14 Polson FC boys will have already hosted a game against the Missoula Strikers this Tuesday by the time this coverage goes to print, then travel to Missoula this Saturday, June 13, for a rematch against the U13 Helena Arsenal and then face the U14 Stevensville Sabres.
U16 Polson FC boys were idle this weekend. They travel this Saturday, June 13, to face the U15 Magic City White in the first contest, followed by an engagement with the U15 Bozeman Blitzz.
Flathead Green 2, U19 Polson FC 1
Polson played a close contest against one of the tougher teams in their schedule, but couldn’t quite connect with the equalizer. Alex Helgeson scored the Polson goal, while Jake Windauer protected the box as goalkeeper.
U19 Polson FC over U17 Kootenai Rapids
Not enough players forced the Libby-based Kootenai Rapids team to forfeit the contest.
The U19 Polson FC boys will be in Missoula this Saturday, June 13, where they will face the U18 Butte Orange in the first contest, followed by a late afternoon match against FC Missoula Blue.
