Mission/Arlee/Charlo softball team back in action

The Mission-Arlee-Charlo softball team started their season out right this past weekend, defeating a young, struggling Drummond team 37-0 and 43-0.
Head coach Susan Weaselhead said this year's team returns some very strong players.
MAC lost three seniors last year, but return players such as Emilie Charlo, who is a four-year starter. Weaselhead called the first baseman a consistent leader on both the offensive and defensive side of the game. Charlo had an inside-the-park grand slam Saturday afternoon, and bats both right and left-handed.
Last year, the team went 22-7, including a state appearance. Weaselhead said this year is going to be another good year. “We have some great, hard working players.”
A few of those players include junior outfielder Morgan Malatare from Arlee, who just finished up a great basketball season; Shania Dubois, another outfielder who Weaselhead said is a great batter and hustler; and shortstop Jordan Eichert, who Weaselhead said has worked hard and has improved greatly since last year. Eichert and third baseman Mikaylan Roylance can both be counted on the get on base, according to Weaselhead.
Jaycee Anderson, MAC's starting pitcher, threw 15 strikeouts on Saturday between the two games against Drummond. Weaselhead said she worked hard in the offseason and is “great asset for us on the mound.” MAC's other pitcher, Ran'Dee Charlo, came into the game and threw three strikeouts.
On the other side of the plate is Kenzie Couture, a first year starter, who Weaselhead said “has a strong work ethic and a good throwing arm.” In their game Saturday, she had a two-run home run.
The MAC Bulldogs take on Ronan this week, a team that beat them in the divisional championship last year. Weaselhead said, “With them being right down the road, we are definitely rivals. They are great competition for us.”
