Volleyball teams in Lake County are just about half way through their seasons, and are working to move to the top of their conferences.

POLSON
At Polson last Tuesday, the host Lady Pirates eluded the sharp talons of the visiting 7B Lady Bluehawks to capture the contest. Ordinarily spearheaded by a pair of athletic multi-sport decorated six-footers, the front row of the visitors was somewhat depleted with All-Conference second team sophomore Autrey Hannum sidelined on account of an ankle injury.
The Lady Pirates countered these towering talls with a double figure tally on service aces along with their own tenacious threesome of Lauren Lefthand, Haley Fyant and Chadelle Smith, who collaborated on over two dozen kills.
At Columbia Falls last Thursday, the visiting Lady Pirates were able to hang with the host WildKats through the first set, but struggled thereafter to tally among the teens. In a game that favors inches, the Kat roster towers with talls that include a trio of six-footers along with another pair just inches shy of that ceiling.
Haley Fyant and Lauren Lefthand led the team in spikes by collaborating on 11 kills, while Erin Sampson and Lydia Dupuis led the defenders by excavating out 11 digs.
Polson (0-2, 2-3) hosts the Whitefish Lady Bulldogs for Homecoming this Thursday, September 24, then travel to the Bitterroot to engage the Hamilton Lady Broncs on Saturday, September 26.
