Local student musicians do well at district musical festival; move on to state

Local musicians had their district musical festival this past weekend.

For Ronan, 21 students made it to the state festival, which takes place in Helena in early May. Senior Ryan Dresen qualified for state in Vocal Solo, Trumpet Solo, and French Horn Solo. Jenaya Burns qualified in Clarinet Solo, Alto Sax Solo, and Clarinet Duet. Aurrora Watkins qualified in Clarinet Duet and Clarinet Solo. Corbin Davis made state in Tenor Saxophone Solo.

Also qualifiying were the Ronan High School jazz band, the percussion ensemble, and the concert band in both prepared and sight reading.

Four students from Mission qualified for state, all of which were in singing. Nathan Doll and Korbyn Pierre for the vocal duet “Poor Wayfaring Stranger.” Nina Popyk for her vocal solo “Un Moto di Gioja” and Yvonne Baty for her vocal solo “Amarilli Mia Bella.”

For Arlee, Eden Morin made state with a vocal solo, as did Rory Bird. TJ Knoll qualified in his trumpet solo, and Taylor Lammerding made it with a drum set solo. Two other Arlee musicians just missed qualifying.

No Charlo students qualified for state and Polson results were not available by press time.
