Ronan athletes clean up town
Last Wednesday, student athletes at Ronan High School took a break from their daily practices to spend some time giving back to their community. In the school’s second year participating in a spring clean up day, athletes from track, softball, and tennis split up into groups to pick up trash around Ronan. For an hour and a half, the athletes walked the streets, cleaning as they went. By 5:30 that evening, an entire pickup full of garbage bags was filled up. Afterwards, the kids were treated to Stageline pizza.
The clean up was organized by school administration, headed up by Athletic Director Courtney Fisher. In a different clean up event a few weeks ago, the Ronan golf team gave back by cleaning up the Mission Mountain Golf Course.
Track team long distance coach Noelle Decker said the event was a great idea. It was her first year helping with the clean up. “It makes the town look better – more appealing,” she said.
She added that she did not think that the kids minded doing the work. “I don’t think they mind doing things like this that help the community. They’ve been pretty positive about it.”
