Smokin' on the Water comes to town

The smell of meat smoking on the barbecue, simmering sauces, music and family fun. That’s what Smokin’ on the Water is all about. The 8th annual Smokin’ on the Water is scheduled for the KwaTaqNuk Resort on Saturday, Aug. 6. The event will feature cooking teams competing to create “The Best” barbecued chicken, beef, pork or barbecue sauce. Trophies and prizes will be awarded for those categories plus an Open category. Cooking teams are encouraged to provide samples to event attendees who will then vote for the grand prize People’s Choice Award and cash prizes.

The cooks will be at their stations early, but the event will open to the public at 11 a.m. with activities running until 6 p.m. There will be music on the Anderson Broadcasting stage and family activities in addition to great barbecue.
