There has been lots of activities going on this summer... fairs, markets, parades and celebrations. The internet says our 90+ degrees are ending this week – good news for most of us. The end of Flathead cherries and wild huckleberries is approaching. We can look forward to local harvests of zucchini (yes, some of us enjoy them), fresh tomatoes and other garden produce, and the Dixon melons. The suntanned crew has been working hard for weeks to get the long-awaited melons ready for our eating pleasure.

Come join us for meals twice a week at the senior center in Dixon, only $4. Mondays at 6 p.m. is dinner time, and lunch is at noon on Thursdays. Bring your family and don’t have a dinner mess to clean up. Also great to share with your company. The menu for the rest of August will be:

Monday, Aug. 15: turkey dinner

Thursday, Aug. 18: huckleberry pancakes, sausage

Monday, Aug. 22: stir fry with rice

Thursday, Aug. 25: chili, cornbread

Monday, Aug. 29: chicken broccoli alfredo

Meals include fruit, vegetables, home-made bread and yummy desserts.

Pinochle will be played on the 4th Monday, after dinner, which will be August 12. New players are welcome.
