Charlo man accused of dealing meth

A Charlo man is set to be arraigned in Lake County District court on Aug. 25 for allegedly dealing methamphetamine.

Daniel Olin Rosa, 31, is charged with one felony count of distribution of dangerous drugs. His bail has been set at $50,000.

According to court documents Rosa was arrested after the Lake County Attorney’s Office received reports from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Polson Police Department that indicated that on July 29 authorities had executed a search warrant on Rosa’ residence. Rosa and three other individuals were allegedly found in the residence, along with multiple bags of methamphetamine.

The three people in the home indicated that they were there to ingest meth with Rosa,and that Rosa had allegedly supplied the drugs. One of the individuals said that he lived with Rosa and that Rosa was selling drugs out of the house. The room mate said that Rosa travels to Missoula every day and picks up an ounce of meth each day.

A search of Rosa’s room allegedly found 17 ounces of methamphetamine packaged for sale, baggies for packing more meth, a spoon and metal container with residue on them, two baggies with various pills inside, multiple pipes and scales, large capacity magazines for an assault-style rifle, and a bullet proof vest.

Man charged in Ronan chase

A man has been charged with felony criminal endangerment, misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs, and misdemeanor eluding a police officer after allegedly leading police on a chase through downtown Ronan.

According to court documents, a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy tried to stop a vehicle traveling 10 miles per hour over the posted speed limit on U.S. 93 on Aug. 5. As the deputy got out of the vehicle, it took off towards Ronan. The deputy pursued the vehicle from Don Aadsen Ford dealership to Main Street going 70 miles per hour, in areas where the speed limit is 25 miles per hour .

“The vehicle turned onto Main Street and continued on at a high rate of speed, passing vehicles in the opposite lane of traffic and only stopped when it came upon pedestrians and a street dance being held for Pioneer Days,” prosecutor Ben Anciaux wrote in court documents.

The alleged driver, Jackson David Palmer, 27, fled on foot and was caught by a tribal police officer.

Man drowns

A Texas man drowned in Flathead Lake near Bigfork on Thursday.

Musa Rashid, 53, of Sugarland, Texas tipped his kayak over approximately 100 yards from shore, according to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

Rashid had taken off the life jacket that he was wearing earlier during the paddle, according to authorities. He attempted to swim to shore, but did not make it. Rashid’s body was recovered in approximately 12 feet of water by people nearby who responded to calls for help.

Man charged in chase

A Butte man has been charged in Lake County District Court for leading officers on a high-speed chase through the Ronan area on July 31.

According to court documents dispatchers received a call from a man on Canyon Mill Road outside of Ronan on July 31 about Steven Jay Richardson, 44, who was “going ape s--- on his door.” A Flathead Tribal Police officer located the vehicle Richardson had allegedly left the scene in and initiated a traffic stop on U.S. 93, near Pizza Cafe. When the officer got out of his patrol car, Richardson allegedly took off. The officer turned on his emergency lights and allegedly followed Richardson down Terrace Lake Road at more than 100 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone. Richardson allegedly passed several cars and almost hit a patrol car before a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy put stop sticks in the roadway. Richardson submitted to a breath test and was allegedly found to have a .140 blood alcohol concentration.

He has been charged with felony criminal endangerment, misdemeanor fleeing a police officer, and misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol.
