John R. Griggs

John R. Griggs, 74, passed away on Tuesday, August 9 at Hospice House in Bloomington. He was born on December 17, 1941 in Lafayette, Indiana, the third son of W. Kenneth and Era Griggs. He was a graduate of Ellettsville High School, a loyal member of the 59ers Group. He received an undergraduate degree from Indiana University. He received a grant from the National Science Foundation and completed a graduate degree from the University of Notre Dame.

John was a very devout Christian and faithful member of All Saints Orthodox Church. He taught chemistry at Owen Valley High School before moving to Montana. There he did Defense Contract work at Big Sky Fabricators. He ended his work tenure as a Chemical Engineer at NWSC Crane.

He is survived by his wife MaryAnn (McKee) Griggs, son William (Michelle) Griggs, daughter, Jennifer (Raymond) Paguyo, foster daughter, Monica (Ben) Fulk, four granddaughters and one grandson, and two foster granddaughters and three foster great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services were held at All Saints Orthodox Church, 6004 S. Fairfax Road on Monday, August 15 at 11 a.m. with calling on Sunday, August 14, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made at All Saints Church for feeding hungry in the Bloomington area. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S.
