It takes an army of people to prepare for the annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner here; from potato peelers, cooks, salad preparers, and dishwashers to the Polson Rural Fire Chief with an engine company to carry and set up tables. I tried to avoid being in the way as I went about my duties. Thank you to all who help make this a great event.

Advance notice: The Polson High School Jazz Connection will be here on Dec. 21, singing Christmas carols from 1-2 p.m. Coffee and cookies will be served.

The veterans’ representative will be here on Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The toe nail clinic will be here on Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Alice Johnson and Don Young were two of the stars of senior bowling last week. Alice’s 200 and Don’s 255 took high games honors but Vivian Ross’ 199 game deserves noting. Alice and Don also had the high series. Don must have figured out his new ball. Claudia Barry and Tim Basta took the handicap series.

The lunch menu for the coming week:

Thursday, Dec. 1: Spaghetti

Friday, Dec. 2: Tacos

Monday, Dec. 5: Turkey and rice soup

Tuesday, Dec. 6: Cheeseburgers

Wednesday, Dec. 7: Hash brown bake

All meals include vegetables and a dessert. Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
