Foundation pledges funds for soccer complex
The Greater Polson Community Foundation is offering its first-ever challenge grant to help the Polson Youth Soccer Association raise the $84,000 needed to complete construction on a new field complex. The $28,000 grant will go toward the construction of a concession stand, installing the final section of perimeter fencing and making parking lot improvements, all of which will complete the half-million dollar project.
The money will be awarded in two tiers. When PYSA raises $28,000, the foundation will award them $14,000. Then, when another $28,000 is raised, PYSA will receive another $14,000 check from the foundation. Altogether, a total of $84,000 must be raised by Aug. 4, 2017, when the foundation holds its annual “Passion for Polson Celebration” at the soccer field.
Offering this challenge grant fits the four objectives of GPCF’s mission: financially support initiatives that build our community, collaborate and partner with others, promote community pride and unity, and promoting philanthropy.
Foundation President Penny Jarecki said, “We hope the challenge grant will inspire everyone in the community join in helping to raise the amount PYSA needs to be complete and be ready for business when the fields open for play. The new soccer fields will be a huge benefit to soccer players of all ages as well as Polson’s economy for years to come.”
