Camel and McCrea dominate Three Forks Tournament

POLSON – Ronan Maiden basketball player Lee Camel reached a mile-stone as the key contributor to her team’s unblemished record in the Three Forks Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The senior eclipsed her 900th career point leading the Maidens to a 52-30 victory over Fairfield in the first game of the Three Forks Tournament.

Camel dumped a combined 36 points over Big Timber and Fairfield in the two-game tournament allowing the Maidens to leave the tournament with an unblemished record.

Micalann McCrea was another contributor to the dynamic offensive that has made Ronan one of the perennial Class-B favorites to compete for a state title.

Twice in the tournament McCrea recorded a double-double scoring in doubles digits and rebounding against both Big Timber and Fairfield.

The second game the Maidens had against Big Timber Camel came up big. Camel shot five 3-pointers as the main contributor to Ronan’s 66-44 victory in the second game of the tournament over Big Timber.

The Maidens’ defense also clamped down on Big Timber’s offensive attack. Ronan held Big Timber’s main offensive weapons Sydney Prathur to 15 points. Other contributors for Big Timber’s offense included Mesa King scored 11 and Emily Hughes with 10.

Against Big Timber the Maidens were able to score 21 points from beyond the arc with Camel and McCrea accounting for most of the points from the 3-point line.

Against Big Timber the Maidens also dominated on the boards with McCrea grabbing 12 rebounds off the glass and Camel also flirting with a double-double grabbing seven boards. Other Ronan players that had a good day on the boards included Lee Camel with four rebounds.

McCrea almost flirted with a triple-double dishing out seven assists against Big Timber.

The first game was more of the same as the Maidens pulled out a 22-point victory over Fairfield 52-30 in the first game of the Three Forks Tournament.

McCrea and Alicia Camel combined to score more points by themselves than their opponents. The two players combined to score a total of 36 points in the contest. The two were not without help from its supporting cast. They received contributions from Lee Camel with seven, Hannah Moss chipped in with four, and scored Kianna Finley scored two. Ronan had a total of five 3-point shots by McCrea, Lee Camel, Alicia Camel, and Louetta Conko-Camel.

McCrea also had five steals in the victory.

At Three Forks Invitational,

McCrea turned in her second double-double of the tournament with another dozen boards and flirted with a triple-double by dishing out seven assists.
