FIFTH FRIDAY DINNER
Where’s the meatloaf? At the Free Fifth Friday Dinner, on Dec. 30 at the Polson Community Church at 1814 1st St. E. Serving starts at 4:30 and will run until 6:30 p.m.
PRE-NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY
A Pre-New Year’s Eve Resolution Party for youth in Grades five through 12 will take place at the CrossCollar Academy at 20 1st Ave. in St. Ignatius on Friday, Dec. 30 starting at 6 p.m. This event is open to the public at no charge. Food and games will be featured as well as a presentation from Taj Bo Kjelland, a poet and performance artist. Participants will receive a goodie bag, a free photo and a few surprises. Sponsored by FRHRC – a nonprofit providing events promoting the broadest possible community acceptance of the multi-cultural nature of our community. For more information, contact Cathy at 745-4259.
RONAN HIGH SCHOOL HOLDING CLOTHING DRIVE
Ronan High School FCCLA is sponsoring a clothing drive. We are accepting all teen or adult sized clothing, coats, and shoes in good condition. LIBRARY KICKING OFF WINTER READING COMPETITION
Keep the winter blues away by escaping with a good book (or seven). The North Lake County Public Library in Polson is holding a winter reading program for adults and teens. You can stop into the library beginning Wednesday, Dec. 21 to pick up your bingo-style reading log or print it from our Facebook page. Successfully complete seven squares on your winter bingo card to be entered into a drawing in April. The winter reading program will run from Dec. 21 to March 19. POLSON CHAMBER MEETING
The first Polson Chamber meeting of 2017 will feature Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Communications Director Robert McDonald. The luncheon meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the KwaTaqNuk Resort from noon until 1 p.m. A graduate of Western Montana University with a degree in journalism, McDonald worked as a reporter for several newspapers, including the Spokesman Review, before becoming the CSKT communications director in 2006. He also serves as an Associate Justice to the Tribal Appellate Court. Cost of the luncheon will be $11.00. Reservations for the luncheon are not required. ACT FOR AMERICA JANUARY MEETING
The Lake County Chapter of ACT for America will meet on Monday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the KwaTaqNuk to set its agenda for 2017. A brief video from founder, Brigitte Gabriel, will be shown pointing out the current challenges to strengthen our national security to keep our state and country safe from the threat of radical Islam. The public is invited and input from all interested citizens is encouraged.
JOB SERVICE EMPLOYER COMMITTEE MEETING
The Lake County Job Service Employer Committee meeting is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2017 from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Providence St. Joseph Hospital, O’Malley Conference Room. All are welcome. The topic will be “Windmills – Leveling the Employment Playing Field.”
