Bertha Anne Birdie Raz
Bertha Anne “Birdie” Raze, 80, of Polson, passed away Dec. 15, 2015, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Polson on Jan. 8, 1935, to Bertha (Bocksnick) and Harry Sorensen.
She graduated from Polson High School in 1953. She married Jim Jacobson in 1953 and they later divorced.
She married the love of her life, Frank Raze, in Wallace, Idaho, on Sept. 18, 1972.
Birdie dedicated her later years to the children of our community.
She worked as a Foster Grandparent at Linderman Elementary School in Polson for over 15 years.
The students have wonderful memories of her.
Her artistic ability and quick wit brought a smile to those who knew her. The time and energy she gave to the teachers, students and the community of Polson will live on forever in the love she gave to us all.
She leaves behind her brother, Herb Sorensen (June); daughter, Kathy Jacobson; and the hundreds of foster grandchildren she loved. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister Myrtle James (Larry) and her husband Frank.
There will be a memorial potluck celebration of her life at Linderman Elementary School on Friday, Jan. 8 at 3:30 p.m.
Memorial gifts in Grandma Birdie’s memory may be made to the Mission Valley Animal Shelter in Polson.
