John Dominic Schlitz, Jr.
On Jan. 17 John Dominic Schritz, Jr., passed away from natural causes. He was born and raised in Berea, Ohio.
Following high school he attended Xavier University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and participated in the Army ROTC program.
During his service with the United States Army, he spent time overseas stationed in South Korea.
After completing his service with the Army, he settled in Montana and pursued postgraduate work at the University of Montana.
John used his business and accounting background throughout his thirty-three year career with the Montana Department of Revenue. He was an active member of the Broadwater County Rural/Townsend City Fire Departments, as well as a supportive parent during his children’s years in 4-H.
He will be remembered as a friend you could shoot the breeze with, for his laugh, and dry humor.
He is survived by his three children Athena, Jeff, and Keith; his four grandchildren Leia, Tye, Madelyn, and Keaton; his brother Mark. He is preceded in death by his wife Joan and his parents John and Sarah.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate John’s life at a wake service scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Townsend City Fire Hall.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in John’s name to the Broadwater County Volunteer Fire Department.
