LIVE HISTORY DAYS
Miracle of America Museum celebrates Live History Days July 16-17. Exhibitors will be on site from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include wood carving, leather working, pine needle weaving and old time music. Visit the vintage medical building for your free blood pressure test.Ride on the trains and military vehicles, watch live saw milling demonstrations, shingle sawing and blacksmithing. See our tennis ball cannon in action. Find out what flint napping is. There will be schoolhouse readings and activities, and of course food and ice cream treats served from the vintage soda fountain. CHERRY FESTIVAL
Polson Main Street Flathead Cherry Festival will be held Saturday, July 16 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come enjoy the great selection of vendors, Flathead cherries, homemade cherry pies, cherry quilts on display in store windows, unique arts & crafts, entertainment and sidewalk sales and specials all weekend long. “NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM”
Free “Night at the Museum” at the Miracle of America Museum, 36094 Memory Lane, Polson, on the 4th Thursday evening of each month. Programs start at 6:30 p.m.. Treats and donations accepted. Questions? Call 406-883-6804. This month’s program shows the truth behind the ‘Wizard of Oz’. Come enjoy this family classic and learn the facts behind the movie. Guests will see and learn about movie props including an original study for the flying monkeys from the film.
ST. IGNATIUS GOOD OLD DAYS
Good Old Days begins on Friday, July 22 with a dessert baking contest for children and adults. Have entries to Good Old Days Park between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Following will be a barbecue by the Chamber of Commerce. Prices are $10 for adults and $6 for kids under 12. Big toys will be on site. Valley Creek Band will play country and classic rock starting at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks are planned.
Saturday the Senior Center will have a breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The annual Buffalo Run will begin at 7 a.m. There will be 1-mile, 4-mile, and 7-mile runs starting on the corner of Main and Mountain View Drive. The parade will begin at noon and family events will begin at the park afterward. That will include dog races and lawn mower races at 1 p.m. The Antique Tractor Show will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Other family games begin at 2 p.m. The tug-o-war will be at 2:30 p.m. The Senior Citizens Center will have Bingo from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Food and craft vendors will be there all afternoon. At 7:30 p.m. there will be a pizza pie eating contest at the amphitheater and a movie will be shown at dusk.
Sunday is the Fly-In at the airport with their usual good breakfast.
SPORTS CAMP
There will be a mega sports camp at Polson Foursquare Church with soccer, archery and art on Aug. 8-12 from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. for children in kindergarten through sixth grades. A free family dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Register online @ www.polsonfoursquare.org or call 883-9347.
