RICHARD “DICK” LEE THURSTON

1929-2016 • Richard “Dick” Lee Thurston, age 86, a resident of Los Lunas, New Mexico went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 7. He was born on August 17, 1929, in Polson, to Effie (nee Donathan) and Stanley Thurston. Dick was a resident of Los Lunas for 17 years and a member of First Baptist Church of Belen.

Dick was a US Air Force veteran, having served twenty years as a jet mechanic. He received an honorable discharge on Oct. 1, 1966. After working for 12 years for United Air Lines in San Francisco, he moved back to Polson to become a cherry orchardist. In 1998, he moved to New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jakob Thurston; parents; and one brother, James Thurston.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lena Thurston; sons, Harry (Valerie) and Phillip Thurston; daughter, Jeannie Thurston; grandson, Jeffrey (Ruby) Thurston; granddaughter, Rebecca Thurston; two brothers, Stanley Thurston, Jr., and Bruce Thurston; and one sister, Pat Tacke. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
