“NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM” 

Free “Night at the Museum” at the Miracle of America Museum, 36094 Memory Lane, Polson, on the 4th Thursday evening of each month. Programs start at 6:30 p.m.. Treats and donations accepted. Questions? Call 406-883-6804. This month’s program shows the truth behind the ‘Wizard of Oz’. Come enjoy this family classic and learn the facts behind the movie. Guests will see and learn about movie props including an original study for the flying monkeys from the film.

WILDLIFE MEETING

The Flathead Reservation Fish and Wildlife Board will meet on Wednesday, July 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the Polson City Library. The agenda includes discussion of Pheasant and Hungarian Partridge seasons, waterfowl regulations, and State projects and accomplishments. Board Chairman Terry Tanner invites the public to attend and ask questions or express their views. The Flathead Reservation Fish and Wildlife Board includes three state members, three Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes members, and one member from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Board was established pursuant to the State/Tribal agreement on managing fish and game birds within the boundaries of the reservation.

FOOD DRIVE

North Lake County Public Library in Polson is introducing a new summer food drive to celebrate the success of its Family Summer Reading Program. The event will take place August 1-6.

Patrons with overdue items or fines on their cards are encouraged to bring canned or nonperishable packaged food to the circulation desk. Fines will be reduced by one dollar for each item donated. Please note that forgiveness of fines does not include lost or damaged items.

All food contributions will be donated to the Polson Loaves and Fish Food Pantry.

SPORTS CAMP

There will be a mega sports camp at Polson Foursquare Church with soccer, archery and art on Aug. 8-12 from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. for children in kindergarten through sixth grades. A free family dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Register online @ www.polsonfoursquare.org or call 883-9347.

CLASS REUNION

The Ronan Class of 1976 will celebrate their 40 year class reunion on Saturday Aug. 6. The event will be held at Ninepipes Lodge starting at 4 p.m. The cost is 25.00 dollars per person. Teachers are also invited to attend. If you have not contacted Brian for dinner reservations please do as soon as possible at 406-676-8200. We encourage all the 1976 fellow classmates to attend.

CLASS FOR CAREGIVERS

Powerful Tools for Caregivers classes are scheduled for six Thursdays, August 11- September 15 in Polson. Time for the class is 10-11:30. The classes are sponsored by the Area VI Agency on Aging to help caregivers thrive in this most difficult life role. Please call Jane at 1-800-266-4188 for more information or to sign up. SUPPORT GROUP

An adult sexual assault support group will begin on July 13, Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Agnes Vanderburg Building Room 101 at Salish Kootenai College. Childcare and snacks will be provided. Sexual violence can look many different ways – rape, incest, attempted rape, fondling, or any unwanted sexual contact. These acts are never the sex assault survivor’s fault.

SELF HELP LAW

Self Help Law Center

Missoula Self Help law Center will be in Polson on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the North Lake County Public Library from 11AM-4:30PM. They will provide services on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Walk ins are welcome all day or to schedule an appointment please call 406-258-3428.

WOLF CLASS

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will host a wolf trapper certification class in Missoula on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the FWP Region 2 office at 3201 Spurgin Road.

Certification is mandatory for anyone planning to trap wolves in Montana, and trappers who successfully completed a wolf trapping course in Montana or Idaho do not need to retake the course.

Classes are free, and interested students can check the schedule and register online at fwp.mt.gov. Follow the links to “hunter education.” Classes will also be held in Bozeman on Aug. 13 and in Kalispell on Dec.10.

In addition to specifics on equipment and techniques, participants will learn about the history, ethics, management and regulations related to wolves and wolf trapping.
