Michael T McCuin (Mike) of Ronan, formally of Ipswich, North Dakota passed away February 4 in Blythe, California. Mike was born March 24th, 1943 to Alma Garrison and Edwin “Mac” Walter McCuin. Mike was the second youngest of six siblings. Five brothers and one sister. Mike was raised on the family ranch in Saco, Montana. Mike quickly discovered that “Cowboying” was not his cup of tea. Mike joined the Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War. While stationed in Michigan Mike met and married Sherry. During his marriage to Sherry, son W. Shane McCuin was born. After his service in the Air Force, Mike started and retired from a career in truck driving and heavy equipment operation. Mike was an explorer at heart. He drove truck throughout the states mostly west of the Mississippi and once to New York. He drove the Ice Roads of Alaska and drove trucks in Gillette, Wyoming where he retired from Campbell County Road and Bridge. Mike’s CB handle was “COWBOY”. Mike remarried and joined in holy matrimony with Maureen (Mickey). Mike adopted Mickey’s son David and had a long close relationship with Mickey’s daughter Vickie. Mike and Mickey retired together and began their adventure as snow birds. They went to Arizona every winter where they joined and shared many good times with their desert family. Mike’s desert family fondly called him “Big Mike”.  Mike and Mickey enjoyed their time as campground hosts at many western states campgrounds. In 2008 Mike and Mickey settled in Ronan on a small farm with son Shane and family. Mike and Mickey continued to go south each winter. On June 7, 2011 Mickey passed away. Mike is survived by his brothers Jack and Nick, son Shane (Jeanine) of Ronan, son David (Ginny) of San Diego, stepdaughter Vickie (Bob) of South Dakota, 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. During Mike’s last three years he enjoyed the company of good friend Marilyn Jennison. Marilyn accompanied Mike when he went to Arizona for the winter and helped him with his many medical needs both at home and while they were in Arizona. Mike and Marilyn shared many good times both in the desert and at home. Mike’s wishes were to be cremated and be reunited with his beloved wife Mickey in the beautiful and majestic mountains of Montana.
