PUBLIC NOTICE

The public is reminded to watch out for, and report, vandals who destroy flower pots near area businesses. Flower pots are provided by the Polson Chamber of Commerce and area business owners. Anyone who sees someone defacing area plants or outside furniture is urged to report it immediately.

Community Potluck

The Big Arm Association will be hosting a Community Potluck on Friday, June 24 at the historic Big Arm School at 6 p.m. Bring a dish to share with neighbors and friends. We will be having a presentation by Lake County Search and Rescue that evening beginning at 7 p.m.Please come and join us. For more information contact N. Foster at 849-5064.

Fibers on the Flathead

Fibers on the Flathead open market and visitors’ day will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 25 at 21339 Methodist Camp Road in Rollins. The market will feature arts, crafts and other fiber arts and artists.

The Arlee Jocko Valley Museum

The Arlee Jocko Valley Museum will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. every other Saturday throughout the summer. Hours will begin on July 4 and end on Labor Day. Appointment viewings of the museum are available by calling Alvaretta Morin at 726-3167.

“Stones & Bones,” and the Korean War will be the featured displays at the opening of the summer season of the Arlee Jocko Valley Museum. Stones and Bones uncovers the earliest evidence of Montana’s human history through a study of casts and reproduction bone and bone tools, including replica artifacts from the Anzick Collection found in Wilsall, Montana. 

Transportation Committee

The Lake County School Transportation Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. July 7 in the Large Conference Room of the Lake County Courthouse. Adjustments needed in bus routes for the upcoming school year will be discussed.

Picnic lunch

The Philanthropic Educational Organization will host a Reciprocity Brown Bag Picnic Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., July 22 at Boettcher Park at the covered-table picnic area. Attendees are urged to bring guests with their lunches to enjoy the event. Drinks and dessert is provided. For more information contact Janna at 849-5281.

Vacation Bible School

West Shore Community Church will host its Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon July 11 through 15 in the Big Arm Firehouse. Leaders will share crafts, games and small snacks with attendees. For more information call Sonya Engbretson at 849-5522.

Fourth of July Events:

Arlee Parade

Freedom Forever is the parade theme of the 61th Annual Arlee Fourth of July Parade. 

Registration will be at Arlee High School entryway, with parade line up beginning in the parking lot. The parade begins at high noon, traveling South on Fyant Street, turns West onto Bouch, North and returning to the high school via Morigeau Street.

The parade will not be traveling on Hwy 93 due to highway department restrictions.

Parade categories consist of: Patriotic, Clubs & Organizations, Western, Indian, Vehicle, Business, novelty & humorous.

Trophies will be awarded at the Arlee Jocko Valley Museum following the parade. For additional parade & museum information contact Alvaretta Morin 726-3167.
