Mariners bring home second place at Maybelle Arthur Tournament in Dillon

At the Maybelle Arthur Tournament held in Dillon this past weekend, the Mission Valley Mariners swept through their first quartet of games to meet up with the host Dillon Cubs in the undefeated semifinal. It is said to be inadvisable to insert onesself between a group of bears when cubs are present and the recommendation bore true when the Mariners endured a minor mauling by the host Cubs who would go on to win their own tournament. With Mission Valley down a couple of players along with a level of play execution that was not quite as crisp as during their preceding games, the twin factors conspired to temper what was otherwise their most fruitful weekend thus far this season.

The trio of Kade Schutzmann, Jacob Harrod and Nyqolas Gillingham all hit .500 or better over the course of the weekend tournament.
