Lassos and cowboys will both be flying through the air in Polson this weekend, as one of the longest-standing summer events takes place.
The 76th annual Mission Mountain Rodeo will be Friday and Saturday.
“Expect lots of rodeo action, including youth events, mutton busting, sheep riding, and mini bull riding,” said Una Rose Graham, secretary of Polson Fairgrounds Inc.
Graham said there will be live music before or after each show, with local band Sho Down performing on Friday night.
A free vendors fair will held outside the gate. Anyone who wants to set up should call Sharon at 261-2861 to find out information about setting up.
Entrance fees are $10 for adults, $5 for children under age 12 and free for children under age 3.
“What sets this rodeo apart is the view from the grandstand,” Graham said. “We have one of the most beautiful rodeo grounds in the state of Montana.”
Graham said she was thankful for the local sponsors who help pay for the rodeo, which attracts competitors from all over Montana and other western states.
Competitors are part of the Northern Rodeo Association, based out of Billings.
“They put on family-friendly rodeos,” Graham said.
Graham said that the youth events begin at 6:30 p.m. each night. The adult competition begins at 7:30 p.m.
