Children's Theater comes to Charlo

On Saturday night, the Charlo gymnasium was transported back 300 years to the days of Blackbeard the Pirate for the annual Missoula Children’s Theater (MCT) play. The event was sponsored by the Ninepipe Art Group.

MCT directors tour the world, going to schools and performing plays with kids in elementary school through high school. “Every year Missoula Children’s Theater reaches about 65,000 kids,” said director Paige O’neil.

Charlo High School student, Kyla Kirsch, who was cast as Blackbeard the Pirate, has been participating in MCT plays for 13 years. “I love MCT because it is such a fun and friendly environment to be a part of. The directors are always amazing, fun, and passionate about what they do and they share that with all the kids that come to participate. I love acting and singing and MCT gave me that opportunity. It teaches us to believe in ourselves and to have confidence. MCT needs to keep coming to schools because music and the arts are important aspects of kids’ school lives. MCT brings all of that in one week,” Kirsch shared.
