Under rainy skies, athletes from all the local schools competed for their chance at attending their respective state tournaments.

In Class C the top five divisional finishers qualified for the state meet, along with those who had met the qualifying standards before the meet.

The Charlo boys team finished in third place – the highest out of any local Class C team. Michael Delaney led the team in points, winning the 100, taking second in the 300 hurdles, and taking third in the 200. He also ran the last leg of the winning 1600-meter relay. Dugan Runkel added a second place finish in the shot put and a third place finish in the discus. Landers Smith took second in the pole vault, followed by Bridger Smith in third. Smith also qualified in the javelin. Freshman Wills DeGrandpre took fifth in the two mile and just missed qualifying in the one mile with a sixth place finish.

The Arlee boys took sixth overall. Senior Isaac Desjarlais, who will run college track in Arizona this fall, took second in the 400 and second in the 800, along with running in the fourth place short relay and the fifth place long relay. Aaron Perry took third in the high jump and Brian Baker took fifth in the triple.

The Arlee girls finished fifth in a loaded Western C division. The Scarlets got points from Carly Hergett, who took second in both the long jump and 100 hurdles, along with third in the triple jump. She also ran on the second place 400 relay team. Ashley Revis took third in the 100 and fifth in the 200. She also ran on the short relay team that qualified. Natalie Yocum added a fourth place finish in the 800 and fifth place finishers in both the one and two mile races.

The Charlo girls finished with 13 points. Both the 400 relay and the 1600 relay teams qualified for the state meet, although the long relay did not place at the divisional meet. Brooklyn Foust took another huge amount of time off of her two mile team to finish third, but just missed qualifying in the one mile. She will also run on the 1600 relay team. Cheyenne Nagy qualified in the 300 hurdles and will run on both relays.
