Niemeyer finishes in 18th, girls team takes fifth

After a cold, snowy divisional tournament, part of the Ronan golf team traveled to the Billings area May 17 to compete in the Class B state tournament. The Ronan girls team and Fisher Niemeyer competed.

Niemeyer, a junior, shot a 79 the first day and an 80 the second to break into the top 20, finishing with a 159 in 18th place.

The Ronan girls were coming off a fourth place finish at the divisional tournament. Tania Ulutoa led the team after shooting a 100 the first day. Brooklyn Olson shot a 101 the first day, and Kaitlyn Woirhaye finished with a 102. Heather Pospishil and Lauryn Hales both shot a 106 the first day. On Wednesday, Woirhaye was the only one who improved on her score, shooting a 101 to finish the tournament in 21st place. As a team, Ronan was in fifth after the first day and ended up sixth at the end of the tournament on Wednesday.
