City looking to fill board vacancies
The City of Polson is looking for citizens who are interested in serving on steering boards that are used to provide information and guidance to lawmakers.
The City-County Planning Board has three vacancies. Composed of nine members, the board has four county representatives, four city representatives and one member from the Conservation District Board of Supervisors. Each member serves two-year terms. This Board is responsible for reviewing building and zoning applications and providing recommendations on approval to the Polson City Commission. The board meets on an as needed basis.
The Board of Adjustment has five vacancies. Composed of seven people, members must be city residents and are appointed at-large for three-year terms. This Board has the responsibility of hearing variance requests and appeals for the Polson Development Code and Growth Policy. The BOA meets on an as-needed basis.
The Golf Board has one vacancy. Composed of seven people, a majority of whom must be city residents, members of this board serve two-year terms. The board is responsible for providing guidance to our Golf Course Management Company and to the City Commission on golf course-related issues. The Golf Board meets the second Wednesday of each month during the golf season.
The Park Board has eight vacancies. Composed of nine people, eight members are city residents appointed by the City Commission, and one member is recommended by the Lake County Commission. All members serve two-year terms. This board is responsible for providing guidance to our Parks Department and to the City Commission on any park-related issues. They meet the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. from spring until fall.
The Polson Redevelopment Agency has three vacancies. Composed of five people, all of whom must be city residents, members serve four-year terms. The PRA is responsible for guiding the Tax Increment Financing by making recommendations to the city commission on the funding that becomes available each year. Some of the projects this has supported include the walkway under the Polson Bridge and the paving and lighting on Main Street. The PRA meets on an as-needed basis.
The Economic Development Council has two vacancies, one of which must be filled by a city resident. This board is composed of seven people with the majority of representatives being city residents, each serving three year terms. This board is charged with providing recommendations to the City Commission on economic development ideas and issues. They meet on an as-needed basis.
