Ronan senior center serving Thanksgiving meal
Well, here I am, running late again. Time seems to go so fast. It is hard to believe that November is already more than half over. Christmas will be upon us before we know it.
It is bazaar season, and ours is this weekend. We will be open on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and the address is 508 Main St SW. We are located across the street from the hospital. We are having a lot of local crafters, so come on in and support the smallest of the small businesses. Lunch will be available for $5.00 per person. You will also have a chance to buy tickets for our raffle.
Our Thanksgiving dinner is Wednesday, Nov. 16 at noon. At this time, we will be honoring Earl and Euva Fercho as our Seniors of the Year. Earl and Euva work tirelessly here at the Center, and are always ready to lend a helping hand.
Senior commodities are available, and if you haven’t picked yours up yet, please do so as soon as possible. The COA is open everyday during the week.
The pinochle players will meet here at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21. This group meets on Monday nights at the various Centers here in the valley. We also have Bridge players who meet here every Monday, at 1 p.m. Both groups are open to the public, and are encouraging more people to join them. There is also interest in getting a cribbage game going on Monday afternoons. Please let us know if you are interested in joining either group and we will pass the word on to them.
We will be closed on Thanksgiving and the Friday after, so our cooks can have more time to spend with their families. Since that Friday is the last Friday of the month, we have moved our November birthday dinner up to the following week, on Friday, Dec. 2.
This is a little late in coming, but we would like to thank Joanne Shaw for all the hard work that she has put into the COA office here in Ronan. She has worked tirelessly to get things done, and we will miss having her around. Dara Rodda has been hired to replace Joanne, and is doing a wonderful job. Thanks to both of you ladies for all of your hard work.
Our menus is as follows:
Wednesday, Nov. 16: Thanksgiving dinner
Friday, Nov. 18: baked fish
Monday, Nov. 21: homemade pizza
Wednesday, Nov. 23: chili
Friday, Nov. 25: we are closed
Monday, Nov. 28: tuna rice bake
Wednesday, Nov. 30: beef stew
And then, we start December (already).
The center is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the noon meal, and we have an evening meal at 5:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month. As with all of our activities, everyone in welcome to attend.
