State to finalize Flathead Lake no-wake zone proposal

The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission will take final action on the petition for a no-wake zone in Cromwell Channel in Flathead Lake during its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 17 in Helena.

The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. Audio and video of the meeting will be available at the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks regional offices. People will also be able to make public comments from regional offices through the live feed. Audio of the meeting will be streamed online at fwp.mt.gov.

In addition to the Cromwell Channel issue, the commission will also take final action on the following items:

Classification of exotic wildlife – administrative rule

Petition for no wake zone - Madison River Between Ennis Lake and Madison Dam

Petition for no wake zone - Duck Creek Bay - Fort Peck Reservoir

Petition for no wake zone - Bay of Park Grove - Fort Peck dredge cuts

Lost River Wildlife Management Area addition

The Commission will consider endorsing the following proposals:

Fleecer Wildlife Management Area addition

Bighorn sheep transfer (From Missouri Breaks to the south of the Beartooth Wildlife Management Area).

The Commission will also hear an information presentation on bighorn sheep health in Montana.
