Leonard James Resner, 79, had his final dance home July 10, 2016 in Anchorage, Alaska after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was born May 7, 1937 in Ronan.
He is survived by three daughters, Teresa (Tari) and husband Glenn Bradley of Stayton, Oregon, Rebecca (Hope) Resner and husband Greg Sharp of Thompson Falls and Dawna and husband Bill Erlewine of Anchorage, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl B. Resner; and his mother, Eunice (Waterman) Resner of Ronan; brothers, Andy, Herb, and Kenny and sisters, Irene and Helen. He is survived by brother, Carl Resner of Missoula; sister, Margaret King of Dixon; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He married Nyla Hahn in 1963, in Ronan; they divorced in 1976. As a young man, Leonard worked clearing trails for the forest service in Seeley Lake, Montana.
He worked at a sawmill in Polson until August 1972, then moved to Libby and worked a short time in the woods. In 1973 he moved to Thompson Falls where he went back to work for a lumber company from which he retired after 25 years. After learning he had cancer in 2010 he moved to Anchorage, Alaska for treatment with his youngest daughter, Dawna.
Leonard enjoyed participating in horseshoe competitions, fishing, hunting, spending time with family and friends and attending Aces hockey games. His absolute favorite activity was dancing.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Leonard September 17 from 2-5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Thompson Falls. Please bring your best stories of Leonard along with your favorite potluck dish.
