E.G. was born in Mt. Park, Oklahoma. His parents moved when he was a young boy to California. His dad was one of the first employees of Kaiser Steel.
E.G. graduated from Fontana High School in 1956. He went on to attend Cal. Poly for a year. He met the love of his life Gerri Toner, Yucaipa’s Beauty Queen, and they were married in April of 1957. They have shared 59 wonderful years.
During high school E.G. was a horse tour guide in Glacier Park. He fell in love with Montana and brought his young family here in the early 70s. He never left. He lived a great, full and rich life in Montana and will be missed by many.
He was a rodeo champion, buck skinner, movie stuntman, and actor, blacksmith, silversmith, farrier, knife and gun maker, artist, musician, husband, father, brother, and friend to many.
E.G. was preceded in death by his parents B. and Lorena Smith, and is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gerri Smith, sister Sherry Hansen, brother Dwayne (Guy) Smith, children Julie Christopher, Susan Wing, Jody Smith, and too many grandchildren and friends to list.
A huge thank you to Tia and Shelly and the whole crew of the Polson Fitness and Rehab. You made Dad’s last days very special. We won’t forget your loving kindness and care, to the whole family. No services will be held at this time, a memorial will be held at Boettcher Park on Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.
