Gary E. Moose Smith
Gary E. “Moose” Smith, formerly of Pablo, passed from this life on Monday, September 5, in Clarkston, Washington. Moose was born on April 21, 1943, in Oklahoma City to June Schulz and Raymond E. Smith. He and his four siblings grew up spending part of the year in the Polson area and the rest of the year in Okla.
He studied diesel mechanics at Oklahoma State Tech, and worked for 38 years as a construction millwright working all over the world. Moose was an active member of the construction workers union for most of his life. He loved his work and doing a job well.
Moose loved to fish for steelhead trout, especially in the Snake River in the Lewiston, Idaho area where he lived for many years.
Moose is preceded in death by his parents, by an older sister, and by his wife, Betty. He is survived by his daughter Luanna, and by two brothers, Ron and Stephen, and sister, Berna Sue. A celebration of Moose’s life is planned for next spring in Pablo.
