Who says cops can’t have a sense of humor?

The Polson Police department certainly doesn’t, as was evident by a bout of April foolery played last week.

In a Facebook post issued Saturday morning, the department announced the discovery of what appeared to be two baby Flathead Lake Monster carcasses below the Armed Forces Memorial Bridge.

“Early this morning your Polson Officers received a call, in reference to a foul odor emitting from underneath the bridge by two individuals who were out walking their dog,” the post stated. “Officers arrived and located the two unidentifiable carcasses and had them shipped off to the crime lab to be identified.”

While it didn’t take long for the department’s Facebook followers to catch on, officers nevertheless performed a thorough investigation.

“Investigators will remain in the area this morning to take photographs, trace DNA samples and to continue processing the scene,” the post stated.
