Vikings' tracksters stand out in Dave Tripp meet

The Charlo boys’ track team was among many Valley-area standouts in the Dave Tripp Memorial track meet Thursday afternoon at Polson High School.

Landers Smith captured the 100-meters with a time of 11.90 seconds.

Vikings’ Bret Thompson said Smith had a good meet.

Smith would also be a part of two Viking relay teams that would capture first place.

Smith also finished second in pole vault with a jump of 11 feet, 6 inches.

The Vikings’ relay team won the 4X100-meter relay with a time of 46.40 and the 4X400-meter relay with a time of 3 minutes, 41.10 seconds. Charlo’s relay team, which consists of the team that finished second at Class-C 8-man football in 2016, includes Zane Hafliger, Toby Odom, Jared Doty, and Smith.

Hafliger also finished second in 400-meters with a time of 57.59. Wills Degrandpre finished second in the 1,600-meters with a time of 4 minutes, 57.42 seconds.

Bulldogs’ Durglo shines in shot put, discus

Mission Bulldog Michael Durglo captured first in the discus and shot put.

In shot put, Durglo threw 44 feet, 8.50 inches and in discus threw a total of 126 feet even.

Warriors Fisher captures first in high jump

Arlee Warrior track member Isaac Fisher took first place in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet, 6 inches.

Fisher edged out Sinjin LaDeaux from Plains, who also had a jump of 5 feet, 6 inches.

Hergett takes first in three

Arlee Scarlets’ track star Carly Hergett outshone several Valley-area competitors by taking first place in three different events.

Hergett took first in the triple jump, long jump, and the 100-meter hurdles.

Hergett’s triple jump was 31 feet 11 inches. The closest competitor to Hergett was Kaitlin Cox, who finished with a jump of 31 feet, 6 inches.

Hergett’s long jump was 16 feet, 4 inches and her 100-meter hurdle time was 16.65 seconds.

Hergett’s teammate Ashley Revis captured first place in the 200-meters with a time of 28.23. Revis also finished second in the 100-meter with a time of 13.75

Scarlet teammate Abby Yocum captured first in the high jump with 4 feet, 8 inches. Mission’s Karolyna Buck finished second jumping the save distance.

Lady Vikings have strong showing at Tripp

The Charlo girls finished the Dave Tripp Memorial Track meet with some hardware Thursday afternoon at the Dave Tripp Memorial track meet at Polson High School.

Taylor McCready with the 800-meter relay with a time of 2 minutes, 41.05 seconds.

Lady Vikes’ Coach Bret Thompson said he was “pleased” with his team’s performance.

“We are moving in the right direction and we have some injuries and I am hoping we are moving in the right direction,” Thompson said.

Lady Vikings’ Allie Delaney won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.29 seconds.

Delaney was also a member of the 4X100-meter relay that included Destiny Manuel, Taylor McCready, and Tyrah Hammond with a winning time of 53.99.

The Lady Vikes won the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4 minutes, 35.24 seconds.
